No Name - Papers

This piece deals with the manipulation of all the bureaucratic documents that certify my residency in another country. All signatures and stamps on these originals are erased with liquid paper, thus severing the formal link with my temporary foreign residence.

The act of erasing becomes an act of emptying, metaphorically referring to a person who becomes nobody or nothing, stripped of their sense of belonging to a place. This work speaks of inhabiting nothingness from within one's own identity, of feeling dispossessed in the face of the adversities and impossibilities one encounters when living in a foreign land.
