MNEMICS
Mnémica is a project that contemplates and stages reflections on the essence and substance of memory. Its body of work presents an anamnesic process that deconstructs the individual to establish collective connections and constellations. Memories are not unalterable or immutable copies; they are not even identical to themselves. They are superimposed traces that intersect like a palimpsest, a draft with multiple records translated into signs. These anemic traces also bear inscriptions and transcriptions external to the subject of that memory, brief interventions by others that constitute the essence of those recollections. The term anamnesis is understood as knowing, as remembering, or as a dialogue of the soul with itself. It refers us to the presence of forms or events from the past, and how, from the present, these shape the potential of the immanent. Mnémica is conceived with three pieces: an installation, an audio station, and a photograph.
