(1 x 4 x 4 x 18 x 36) + 3 - Selfportrait/ The spatiotemporal distance

This piece refers to a working mechanism, an equation that metaphorically represents displacement, distance, the need to put down roots when everything around you is foreign, and the need to define yourself as an individual in the world. The result of this formula, 10,371, is six months of constant and meticulous work, representing the number of kilometers separating my first home from my current one—a number that relocates me on the map and makes me aware of the distance from my origins. The 10,371 objects are containers of micro-histories that encapsulate this intimate process of appropriation and rootedness, objects with which I identify and which form part of this metamorphosis—geographic, social, and emotional—that makes the continuous negotiation of identities inevitable.
