WHITE, SMOOTH ́AND UNIFORM BACKGROUND.
“White, smooth and uniform background” is a video installation based on the encounter between the two artists during their stay in Spain as immigrants. In the videos, Luciana Damiani and Sol Prado read a dialogue of emails exchanged between them about the state of transit in which they live while they both emigrate from Spain to Latin America, between October 2015 and May 2016. During the exchange there begin to be divergences about how to approach the piece and different positions at the moment of calling themselves immigrants. This project is an
attempt to sustain a way of doing things together that coexists with the paradox and the intuition of absence immersed in the continuous change of context.
From the performative aspect, the contradictory act of giving a biographical voice to the ID photo subjectivises the body represented in the document, making the concept of identity and territory more complex, politicising its privileges and detriments with respect to other subjects, and the pragmatic impossibilities it suffers to grow in a foreign country.
This project finds its meeting point in the challenge of being able to continue speaking and creating together, conceiving difference as the support of some latent identity, in constant transformation, never complete or transparent.

Fondo blanco liso y uniforme es una video instalación que parte del encuentro de las dos artistas durante su estancia en España como inmigrantes. En los videos, Luciana Damiani y Sol Prado leen un diálogo de correos electrónicos intercambiados entre ellas sobre el estado de tránsito en el que habitan mientras ambas emigran de España hacia Latinoamérica, entre octubre del 2015 y mayo del 2016. Durante el intercambio comienzan a haber divergencias sobre cómo abordar la pieza y diferentes posturas al momento de autodenominarse inmigrantes. Este proyecto es el intento de sostener un hacer juntas que convive con la paradoja y la intuición de ausencia sumido en el continuo cambio de contexto. Desde el aspecto performativo, el acto contradictorio de dar voz biográfica a la foto carnet, subjetiviza el cuerpo representado en el documento, complejizando el concepto de identidad y territorio, politizando sus privilegios y detrimentos respecto a otros sujetos, y las imposibilidades pragmáticas que padece para desarrollarse de un modo sustentable en un país extranjero.
Hay en este gesto de “tomar la palabra” una escucha de la propia voz, y, al mismo tiempo, una escucha autoral de la voz ajena, donde la artista deviene en afectadora y afectada por discurso. Este proyecto encuentra su punto de reunión en el desafío de poder seguir hablando y creando juntas, concibiendo la diferencia como el sostén de alguna identidad latente, en constante trasformación, nunca completa ni transparente.
